Corinthians 13
NIV Parallel HCSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New International VersionHolman Christian Standard Bible
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.1If I speak human or angelic languages but do not have love, I am a sounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.2If I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so that I can move mountains but do not have love, I am nothing.
If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.3And if I donate all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body in order to boast but do not have love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.4Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy, is not boastful, is not conceited,
It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.5does not act improperly, is not selfish, is not provoked, and does not keep a record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.6Love finds no joy in unrighteousness but rejoices in the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.7It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.8Love never ends. But as for prophecies, they will come to an end; as for languages, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will come to an end.
For we know in part and we prophesy in part,9For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.10But when the perfect comes, the partial will come to an end.
When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.11When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put aside childish things.
For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.12For now we see indistinctly, as in a mirror, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, as I am fully known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.13Now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.
