New International VersionNET Bible
Then the angel who talked with me returned and woke me up, like someone awakened from sleep.1The angelic messenger who had been speaking with me then returned and woke me, as a person is wakened from sleep.
He asked me, "What do you see?" I answered, "I see a solid gold lampstand with a bowl at the top and seven lamps on it, with seven channels to the lamps.2He asked me, "What do you see?" I replied, "I see a menorah of pure gold with a receptacle at the top and seven lamps, with fourteen pipes going to the lamps.
Also there are two olive trees by it, one on the right of the bowl and the other on its left."3There are also two olive trees beside it, one on the right of the receptacle and the other on the left."
I asked the angel who talked with me, "What are these, my lord?"4Then I asked the messenger who spoke with me, "What are these, sir?"
He answered, "Do you not know what these are?" "No, my lord," I replied.5He replied, "Don't you know what these are?" So I responded, "No, sir."
So he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty.6Therefore he told me, "These signify the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by strength and not by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD who rules over all."
"What are you, mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground. Then he will bring out the capstone to shouts of 'God bless it! God bless it!'"7"What are you, you great mountain? Because of Zerubbabel you will become a level plain! And he will bring forth the temple capstone with shoutings of 'Grace! Grace!' because of this."
Then the word of the LORD came to me:8Moreover, the word of the LORD came to me as follows:
"The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands will also complete it. Then you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me to you.9"The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundations of this temple, and his hands will complete it." Then you will know that the LORD who rules over all has sent me to you.
"Who dares despise the day of small things, since the seven eyes of the LORD that range throughout the earth will rejoice when they see the chosen capstone in the hand of Zerubbabel?"10For who dares make light of small beginnings? These seven eyes will joyfully look on the tin tablet in Zerubbabel's hand. (These are the eyes of the LORD, which constantly range across the whole earth.)
Then I asked the angel, "What are these two olive trees on the right and the left of the lampstand?"11Next I asked the messenger, "What are these two olive trees on the right and the left of the menorah?"
Again I asked him, "What are these two olive branches beside the two gold pipes that pour out golden oil?"12Before he could reply I asked again, "What are these two extensions of the olive trees, which are emptying out the golden oil through the two golden pipes?"
He replied, "Do you not know what these are?" "No, my lord," I said.13He replied, "Don't you know what these are?" And I said, "No, sir."
So he said, "These are the two who are anointed to serve the Lord of all the earth."14So he said, "These are the two anointed ones who stand by the Lord of the whole earth."
