| 1I love the LORD, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. | 1I love the LORD because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. |

| 3The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came over me; I was overcome by distress and sorrow. | 3Death wrapped its ropes around me; the terrors of the grave overtook me. I saw only trouble and sorrow. |
