Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints?1If any of you has a grievance against another, how dare he go to law before the unrighteous instead of before the saints!
Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?2Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases?
Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?3Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life!
If then you have judgments concerning things pertaining to this life, do you appoint those who are least esteemed by the church to judge?4So if you need to settle everyday matters, do you appoint as judges those of no standing in the church?
I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you, not even one, who will be able to judge between his brethren?5I say this to your shame. Is there really no one among you wise enough to arbitrate between his brothers?
But brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers!6Instead, one brother goes to law against another, and this in front of unbelievers!
Now therefore, it is already an utter failure for you that you go to law against one another. Why do you not rather accept wrong? Why do you not rather let yourselves be cheated?7The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means that you are thoroughly defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?
No, you yourselves do wrong and cheat, and you do these things to your brethren!8Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, even against your own brothers!
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who submit to or perform homosexual acts,
nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.10nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor verbal abusers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.
And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.11And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.12“Everything is permissible for me,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible for me,” but I will not be mastered by anything.
Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.13“Food for the stomach and the stomach for food,” but God will destroy them both. The body is not intended for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power.14By His power God raised the Lord from the dead, and He will raise us also.
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not!15Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!
Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.”16Or don’t you know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”
But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.17But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with Him in spirit.
Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.18Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a man can commit is outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?19Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.20you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God with your body.
