Now the angel who talked with me came back and wakened me, as a man who is wakened out of his sleep.1The angel who was speaking with me then returned and roused me as one awakened out of sleep.
And he said to me, “What do you see?” So I said, “I am looking, and there is a lampstand of solid gold with a bowl on top of it, and on the stand seven lamps with seven pipes to the seven lamps.2He asked me, "What do you see?" I replied, "I see a solid gold lampstand with a bowl at the top. The lampstand also has seven lamps at the top with seven spouts for each of the lamps.
Two olive trees are by it, one at the right of the bowl and the other at its left.”3There are also two olive trees beside it, one on the right of the bowl and the other on its left."
So I answered and spoke to the angel who talked with me, saying, “What are these, my lord?”4Then I asked the angel who was speaking with me, "What are these, my lord?"
Then the angel who talked with me answered and said to me, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.”5"Don't you know what they are?" replied the angel who was speaking with me. I said, "No, my lord."
So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of hosts.6So he answered me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by strength or by might, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD of Armies.
‘Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone With shouts of “Grace, grace to it!” ’ ”7'What are you, great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain. And he will bring out the capstone accompanied by shouts of: Grace, grace to it!'"
Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying:8Then the word of the LORD came to me:
“The hands of Zerubbabel Have laid the foundation of this temple; His hands shall also finish it. Then you will know That the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you.9"Zerubbabel's hands have laid the foundation of this house, and his hands will complete it. Then you will know that the LORD of Armies has sent me to you.
For who has despised the day of small things? For these seven rejoice to see The plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. They are the eyes of the LORD, Which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth.”10For who despises the day of small things? These seven eyes of the LORD, which scan throughout the whole earth, will rejoice when they see the ceremonial stone in Zerubbabel's hand."
Then I answered and said to him, “What are these two olive trees—at the right of the lampstand and at its left?”11I asked him, "What are the two olive trees on the right and left of the lampstand?"
And I further answered and said to him, “What are these two olive branches that drip into the receptacles of the two gold pipes from which the golden oil drains?”12And I questioned him further, "What are the two streams of the olive trees, from which the golden oil is pouring through the two golden conduits?"
Then he answered me and said, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.”13Then he inquired of me, "Don't you know what these are?" "No, my lord," I replied.
So he said, “These are the two anointed ones, who stand beside the Lord of the whole earth.”14"These are the two anointed ones," he said, "who stand by the Lord of the whole earth."
