New King James VersionNET Bible
“At this also my heart trembles, And leaps from its place.1At this also my heart pounds and leaps from its place.
Hear attentively the thunder of His voice, And the rumbling that comes from His mouth.2Listen carefully to the thunder of his voice, to the rumbling that proceeds from his mouth.
He sends it forth under the whole heaven, His lightning to the ends of the earth.3Under the whole heaven he lets it go, even his lightning to the far corners of the earth.
After it a voice roars; He thunders with His majestic voice, And He does not restrain them when His voice is heard.4After that a voice roars; he thunders with an exalted voice, and he does not hold back his lightning bolts when his voice is heard.
God thunders marvelously with His voice; He does great things which we cannot comprehend.5God thunders with his voice in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding.
For He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth’; Likewise to the gentle rain and the heavy rain of His strength.6For to the snow he says, 'Fall to earth,' and to the torrential rains, 'Pour down.'
He seals the hand of every man, That all men may know His work.7He causes everyone to stop working, so that all people may know his work.
The beasts go into dens, And remain in their lairs.8The wild animals go to their lairs, and in their dens they remain.
From the chamber of the south comes the whirlwind, And cold from the scattering winds of the north.9A tempest blows out from its chamber, icy cold from the driving winds.
By the breath of God ice is given, And the broad waters are frozen.10The breath of God produces ice, and the breadth of the waters freeze solid.
Also with moisture He saturates the thick clouds; He scatters His bright clouds.11He loads the clouds with moisture; he scatters his lightning through the clouds.
And they swirl about, being turned by His guidance, That they may do whatever He commands them On the face of the whole earth.12The clouds go round in circles, wheeling about according to his plans, to carry out all that he commands them over the face of the whole inhabited world.
He causes it to come, Whether for correction, Or for His land, Or for mercy.13Whether it is for punishment for his land, or whether it is for mercy, he causes it to find its mark.
“Listen to this, O Job; Stand still and consider the wondrous works of God.14"Pay attention to this, Job! Stand still and consider the wonders God works.
Do you know when God dispatches them, And causes the light of His cloud to shine?15Do you know how God commands them, how he makes lightning flash in his storm cloud?
Do you know how the clouds are balanced, Those wondrous works of Him who is perfect in knowledge?16Do you know about the balancing of the clouds, that wondrous activity of him who is perfect in knowledge?
Why are your garments hot, When He quiets the earth by the south wind?17You, whose garments are hot when the earth is still because of the south wind,
With Him, have you spread out the skies, Strong as a cast metal mirror?18will you, with him, spread out the clouds, solid as a mirror of molten metal?
“Teach us what we should say to Him, For we can prepare nothing because of the darkness.19Tell us what we should say to him. We cannot prepare a case because of the darkness.
Should He be told that I wish to speak? If a man were to speak, surely he would be swallowed up.20Should he be informed that I want to speak? If a man speaks, surely he would be swallowed up!
Even now men cannot look at the light when it is bright in the skies, When the wind has passed and cleared them.21But now, the sun cannot be looked at--it is bright in the skies--after a wind passed and swept the clouds away.
He comes from the north as golden splendor; With God is awesome majesty.22From the north he comes in golden splendor; around God is awesome majesty.
As for the Almighty, we cannot find Him; He is excellent in power, In judgment and abundant justice; He does not oppress.23As for the Almighty, we cannot attain to him! He is great in power, but justice and abundant righteousness he does not oppress.
Therefore men fear Him; He shows no partiality to any who are wise of heart.”24Therefore people fear him, for he does not regard all the wise in heart."
