Psalm 57
NKJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionNew Living Translation
1To the Chief Musician. Set to “Do Not Destroy.” A Michtam of David when he fled from Saul into the cave. Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, Until these calamities have passed by.1Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy! I look to you for protection. I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by.
2I will cry out to God Most High, To God who performs all things for me.2I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill his purpose for me.
3He shall send from heaven and save me; He reproaches the one who would swallow me up. Selah God shall send forth His mercy and His truth.3He will send help from heaven to rescue me, disgracing those who hound me. Interlude My God will send forth his unfailing love and faithfulness.
4My soul is among lions; I lie among the sons of men Who are set on fire, Whose teeth are spears and arrows, And their tongue a sharp sword.4I am surrounded by fierce lions who greedily devour human prey— whose teeth pierce like spears and arrows, and whose tongues cut like swords.
5Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; Let Your glory be above all the earth.5Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens! May your glory shine over all the earth.
6They have prepared a net for my steps; My soul is bowed down; They have dug a pit before me; Into the midst of it they themselves have fallen. Selah6My enemies have set a trap for me. I am weary from distress. They have dug a deep pit in my path, but they themselves have fallen into it. Interlude
7My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise.7My heart is confident in you, O God; my heart is confident. No wonder I can sing your praises!
8Awake, my glory! Awake, lute and harp! I will awaken the dawn.8Wake up, my heart! Wake up, O lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn with my song.
9I will praise You, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing to You among the nations.9I will thank you, Lord, among all the people. I will sing your praises among the nations.
10For Your mercy reaches unto the heavens, And Your truth unto the clouds.10For your unfailing love is as high as the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
11Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; Let Your glory be above all the earth.11Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens. May your glory shine over all the earth.
