I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.1First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be offered for everyone—
Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.2for kings and all those in authority—so that we may lead tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity.
This is good and pleases God our Savior,3This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,
who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.4who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus.5For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.6who gave Himself as a ransom for all—the testimony that was given at just the right time.
And I have been chosen as a preacher and apostle to teach the Gentiles this message about faith and truth. I’m not exaggerating—just telling the truth.7For this reason I was appointed as a preacher, an apostle, and a faithful and true teacher of the Gentiles. I am telling the truth; I am not lying about anything.
In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.8Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands, without anger or dissension.
And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes.9Likewise, I want the women to adorn themselves with respectable apparel, with modesty, and with self-control, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,
For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do.10but with good deeds, as is proper for women who profess to worship God.
Women should learn quietly and submissively.11A woman must learn in quietness and full submissiveness.
I do not let women teach men or have authority over them. Let them listen quietly.12I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; she is to remain quiet.
For God made Adam first, and afterward he made Eve.13For Adam was formed first, and then Eve.
And it was not Adam who was deceived by Satan. The woman was deceived, and sin was the result.14And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman who was deceived and fell into transgression.
But women will be saved through childbearing, assuming they continue to live in faith, love, holiness, and modesty.15Women, however, will be saved through childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.
