| 1I love the LORD because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. | 1I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. |
| 2Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath! | 2Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live. |
| 3Death wrapped its ropes around me; the terrors of the grave overtook me. I saw only trouble and sorrow. | 3The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; I suffered distress and anguish. |
