Psalm 132
NLT Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationEnglish Standard Version
LORD, remember David and all that he suffered.1Remember, O LORD, in David’s favor, all the hardships he endured,
He made a solemn promise to the LORD. He vowed to the Mighty One of Israel,2how he swore to the LORD and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob,
“I will not go home; I will not let myself rest.3“I will not enter my house or get into my bed,
I will not let my eyes sleep nor close my eyelids in slumber4I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids,
until I find a place to build a house for the LORD, a sanctuary for the Mighty One of Israel.”5until I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
We heard that the Ark was in Ephrathah; then we found it in the distant countryside of Jaar.6Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar.
Let us go to the sanctuary of the LORD; let us worship at the footstool of his throne.7“Let us go to his dwelling place; let us worship at his footstool!”
Arise, O LORD, and enter your resting place, along with the Ark, the symbol of your power.8Arise, O LORD, and go to your resting place, you and the ark of your might.
May your priests be clothed in godliness; may your loyal servants sing for joy.9Let your priests be clothed with righteousness, and let your saints shout for joy.
For the sake of your servant David, do not reject the king you have anointed.10For the sake of your servant David, do not turn away the face of your anointed one.
The LORD swore an oath to David with a promise he will never take back: “I will place one of your descendants on your throne.11The LORD swore to David a sure oath from which he will not turn back: “One of the sons of your body I will set on your throne.
If your descendants obey the terms of my covenant and the laws that I teach them, then your royal line will continue forever and ever.”12If your sons keep my covenant and my testimonies that I shall teach them, their sons also forever shall sit on your throne.”
For the LORD has chosen Jerusalem ; he has desired it for his home.13For the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling place:
“This is my resting place forever,” he said. “I will live here, for this is the home I desired.14“This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it.
I will bless this city and make it prosperous; I will satisfy its poor with food.15I will abundantly bless her provisions; I will satisfy her poor with bread.
I will clothe its priests with godliness; its faithful servants will sing for joy.16Her priests I will clothe with salvation, and her saints will shout for joy.
Here I will increase the power of David; my anointed one will be a light for my people.17There I will make a horn to sprout for David; I have prepared a lamp for my anointed.
I will clothe his enemies with shame, but he will be a glorious king.”18His enemies I will clothe with shame, but on him his crown will shine.”
