NLT Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New Living TranslationInternational Standard Version
Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.1Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus the Messiah.
Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.2Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace by which we have been established, and we boast because of our hope in God's glory.
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.3Not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,
And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.4endurance produces character, and character produces hope.
And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.5Now this hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.6For at just the right time, while we were still powerless, the Messiah died for the ungodly.
Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good.7For it is rare for anyone to die for a righteous person, though somebody might be brave enough to die for a good person.
But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.8But God demonstrates his love for us by the fact that the Messiah died for us while we were still sinners.
And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation.9Now that we have been justified by his blood, how much more will we be saved from wrath through him!
For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son.10For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life!
So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God. Adam and Christ Contrasted11Not only that, but we also continue to boast about God through our Lord Jesus the Messiah, through whom we have now been reconciled.
When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.12Just as sin entered the world through one man, and death resulted from sin, therefore everyone dies, because everyone has sinned.
Yes, people sinned even before the law was given. But it was not counted as sin because there was not yet any law to break.13Certainly sin was in the world before the Law was given, but no record of sin is kept when there is no Law.
Still, everyone died—from the time of Adam to the time of Moses—even those who did not disobey an explicit commandment of God, as Adam did. Now Adam is a symbol, a representation of Christ, who was yet to come.14Nevertheless, death ruled from the time of Adam to Moses, even over those who did not sin in the same way Adam did when he disobeyed. He is a foreshadowing of the one who would come.
But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.15But God's free gift is not like Adam's offense. For if many people died as the result of one man's offense, how much more have God's grace and the free gift given through the kindness of one man, Jesus the Messiah, been showered on many people!
And the result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man’s sin. For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s free gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins.16Nor can the free gift be compared to what came through the man who sinned. For the sentence that followed one man's offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift brought justification, even after many offenses.
For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.17For if, through one man, death ruled because of that man's offense, how much more will those who receive such overflowing grace and the gift of righteousness rule in life because of one man, Jesus the Messiah!
Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone.18Consequently, just as one offense resulted in condemnation for everyone, so one act of righteousness results in justification and life for everyone.
Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.19For just as through one man's disobedience many people were made sinners, so also through one man's obedience many people will be made righteous.
God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant.20Now the Law crept in so that the offense would increase. But where sin increased, grace increased even more,
So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.21so that, just as sin ruled by bringing death, so also grace might rule by bringing justification that results in eternal life through Jesus the Messiah, our Lord.
