1 Then Job replied to the LORD: Then Job answered the LORD and said: Then Job answered the LORD, and said, Then Job answered the LORD and said, Then Job replied to the LORD:
2 “I know that You can do all things and that no plan of Yours can be thwarted. “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted. I know that thou canst do every <i>thing</i>, and <i>that</i> no thought can be withholden from thee. “I know that You can <i>do</i> all things, And that no plan is impossible for You. “I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
3 You asked, ‘Who is this who conceals My counsel without knowledge?’ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know. ‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’ Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know. Who <i>is</i> he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not. ‘Who is this who conceals advice without knowledge?’ Therefore I have declared that which I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I do not know. You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.
4 You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak. I will question you, and you shall inform Me.’ ‘Hear, and I will speak; I will question you, and you make it known to me.’ Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me. ‘Please listen, and I will speak; I will ask You, and You instruct me.’ “You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you shall answer me.’
5 My ears had heard of You, but now my eyes have seen You. I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you; I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear; But now my eye sees You; My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.
6 Therefore I retract my words, and I repent in dust and ashes.” therefore I despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes.” Wherefore I abhor <i>myself</i>, and repent in dust and ashes. Therefore I retract, And I repent, <i>sitting</i> on dust and ashes.” Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.”
7 After the LORD had spoken these words to Job, He said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath is kindled against you and your two friends. For you have not spoken about Me accurately, as My servant Job has. After the LORD had spoken these words to Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite: “My anger burns against you and against your two friends, for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has. And it was <i>so</i>, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me <i>the thing that is</i> right, as my servant Job <i>hath</i>. It came about after the LORD had spoken these words to Job, that the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath is kindled against you and against your two friends, because you have not spoken of Me what is trustworthy, as My servant Job <i>has.</i> After the LORD had said these things to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.
8 So now, take seven bulls and seven rams, go to My servant Job, and sacrifice a burnt offering for yourselves. Then My servant Job will pray for you, for I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. For you have not spoken accurately about Me, as My servant Job has.” Now therefore take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and offer up a burnt offering for yourselves. And my servant Job shall pray for you, for I will accept his prayer not to deal with you according to your folly. For you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has.” Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you <i>after your</i> folly, in that ye have not spoken of me <i>the thing which is</i> right, like my servant Job. Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, and go to My servant Job, and offer up a burnt offering for yourselves, and My servant Job will pray for you. For I will accept him so as not to do with you <i>as your</i> foolishness <i>deserves,</i> because you have not spoken of Me what is trustworthy, as My servant Job <i>has.</i>” So now take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and sacrifice a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. You have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.”
9 So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the LORD had told them; and the LORD accepted Job’s request. So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did what the LORD had told them, and the LORD accepted Job’s prayer. So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite <i>and</i> Zophar the Naamathite went, and did according as the LORD commanded them: the LORD also accepted Job. So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, <i>and</i> Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the LORD told them; and the LORD accepted Job. So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite did what the LORD told them; and the LORD accepted Job’s prayer.
10 After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD restored his prosperity and doubled his former possessions. And the LORD restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before. And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before. The LORD also restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the LORD increased double all that Job had. After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before.
11 All his brothers and sisters and prior acquaintances came and dined with him in his house. They consoled him and comforted him over all the adversity that the LORD had brought upon him. And each one gave him a piece of silver and a gold ring. Then came to him all his brothers and sisters and all who had known him before, and ate bread with him in his house. And they showed him sympathy and comforted him for all the evil that the LORD had brought upon him. And each of them gave him a piece of money and a ring of gold. Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the LORD had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an earring of gold. Then all his brothers, all his sisters, and all who had known him before came to him, and they ate bread with him in his house; and they sympathized with him and comforted him for all the adversities that the LORD had brought on him. And each one gave him a piece of money, and each a ring of gold. All his brothers and sisters and everyone who had known him before came and ate with him in his house. They comforted and consoled him over all the trouble the LORD had brought on him, and each one gave him a piece of silver and a gold ring.
12 So the LORD blessed Job’s latter days more than his first. He owned 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys. And the LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning. And he had 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys. So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses. The LORD blessed the latter <i>days</i> of Job more than his beginning; and he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand female donkeys. 15 No women as beautiful as Job’s daughters could be found in all the land, and their father granted them an inheritance among their brothers. And in all the land there were no women so beautiful as Job’s daughters. And their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers. And in all the land were no women found <i>so</i> fair as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren. In all the land no women were found as beautiful as Job’s daughters; and their father gave them inheritances among their brothers. Nowhere in all the land were there found women as beautiful as Job’s daughters, and their father granted them an inheritance along with their brothers.
16 After this, Job lived 140 years and saw his children and their children to the fourth generation. And after this Job lived 140 years, and saw his sons, and his sons’ sons, four generations. After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, <i>even</i> four generations. After this, Job lived 140 years, and saw his sons and his grandsons, four generations. After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation.
17 And so Job died, old and full of years. And Job died, an old man, and full of days. So Job died, <i>being</i> old and full of days. And Job died, an old man and full of days. And so Job died, an old man and full of years.
