3	If I send them home hungry, they will faint along the way. For some of them have come a great distance.	And if I send them away hungry to their homes, they will faint on the way. And some of them have come from far away.”	And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.	And if I send them away hungry to their homes, they will faint on the way; and some of them have come from a great distance.”	If I send them home hungry, they will collapse on the way, because some of them have come a long distance.”
4	His disciples replied, “Where in this desolate place could anyone find enough bread to feed all these people?	And his disciples answered him, “How can one feed these people with bread here in this desolate place?”	And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these <i>men</i> with bread here in the wilderness?	And His disciples replied to Him, “Where will anyone be able <i>to find enough</i> bread here in <i>this</i> desolate place to satisfy these people?”	His disciples answered, “But where in this remote place can anyone get enough bread to feed them?”
5	“How many loaves do you have? Jesus asked. “Seven, they replied.	And he asked them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven.”	And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.	And He was asking them, “How many loaves do you have?” And they said, “Seven.”	“How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked. “Seven,” they replied.
6	And He instructed the crowd to sit down on the ground. Then He took the seven loaves, gave thanks and broke them, and gave them to His disciples to set before the people. And they distributed them to the crowd.	And he directed the crowd to sit down on the ground. And he took the seven loaves, and having given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to set before the people; and they set them before the crowd. Truly I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation!”	He sighed deeply and said, “Why does this generation ask for a sign? Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to it.”
13	And He left them, got back into the boat, and crossed to the other side.	And he left them, got into the boat again, and went to the other side.	And he left them, and entering into the ship again departed to the other side.	And leaving them, He again embarked and went away to the other side.	Then he left them, got back into the boat and crossed to the other side.
14	Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat.	Now they had forgotten to bring bread, and they had only one loaf with them in the boat.	Now <i>the disciples</i> had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.	And <i>the disciples</i> had forgotten to take bread, and did not have more than one loaf in the boat with them. 15	“Watch out! He cautioned them. “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of Herod.	And he cautioned them, saying, “Watch out; beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.”	And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and <i>of</i> the leaven of Herod.	And He was giving orders to them, saying, “Watch out! Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and the leaven of Herod.”	“Be careful,” Jesus warned them. “Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod.”
16	So they began to discuss with one another the fact that they had no bread.	And they began discussing with one another the fact that they had no bread. And when Jesus knew <i>it</i>, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?	And Jesus, aware of this, said to them, “Why are you discussing <i>the fact</i> that you have no bread? Do you not yet comprehend or understand? Do you <i>still</i> have your heart hardened?	Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: “Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened?
18	‘Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear?’ And do you not remember?	Having eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear? And do you not remember?	Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?	HAVING EYES, DO YOU NOT SEE? AND HAVING EARS, DO YOU NOT HEAR? And do you not remember,	Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don’t you remember?
19	When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of broken pieces did you collect? “Twelve, they answered. 21	Then He asked them, “ Do you still not understand?	And he said to them, “Do you not yet understand?”	And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?	And He was saying to them, “Do you not yet understand?”	He said to them, “Do you still not understand?”
22	When they arrived at Bethsaida, some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him.	And they came to Bethsaida. And some people brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him.	And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.	And they came to Bethsaida. 24	The man looked up and said, “I can see the people, but they look like trees walking around.	And he looked up and said, “I see people, but they look like trees, walking.”	And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.	And he looked up and said, “I see people, for I see <i>them</i> like trees, walking around.”	He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.”
25	Once again Jesus placed His hands on the man’s eyes, and when he opened them his sight was restored, and he could see everything clearly.	Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.	After that he put <i>his</i> hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.	Then again He laid His hands on his eyes; and he looked intently and was restored, and <i>began</i> to see everything clearly.	Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.
26	Jesus sent him home and said, “ Do not go back into the village.”	And he sent him to his home, saying, “Do not even enter the village.”	And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell <i>it</i> to any in the town. 27	Then Jesus and His disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way, He questioned His disciples: “Who do people say I am? 28	They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.	And they told him, “John the Baptist; and others say, Elijah; and others, one of the prophets.”	And they answered, John the Baptist: but some <i>say</i>, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.	They told Him, saying, “John the Baptist; and others <i>say</i> Elijah; and others, one of the prophets.”	They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.”
29	“But what about you? Jesus asked. “Who do you say I am? Peter answered, “You are the Christ.	And he asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, “You are the Christ.”	And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.	And He <i>continued</i> questioning them: “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered and said to Him, “You are the Christ.”	“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Messiah.”
30	And Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about Him.	And he strictly charged them to tell no one about him.	And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.	And He warned them to tell no one about Him.	Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.

But turning around and seeing His disciples, He rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind Me, Satan; for you are not setting your mind on God’s purposes, but on man’s.”	But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. “Get behind me, Satan!” he said. “You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”
34	Then Jesus called the crowd to Him along with His disciples, and He told them, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.	And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.	And when he had called the people <i>unto him</i> with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.	And He summoned the crowd together with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me. 35	For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and for the gospel will save it. 38	If anyone is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in His Father’s glory with the holy angels.	For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”	Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
