1 For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. Hear, O God, my voice of complaint; preserve my life from dread of the enemy. Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint; preserve my life from dread of the enemy. 2 Hide me from the scheming of the wicked, from the mob of workers of iniquity, Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, from the throng of evildoers, Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity: Hide me from the secret discussion of evildoers, From the restlessness of the workers of injustice, Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked, from the plots of evildoers.
3 who sharpen their tongues like swords and aim their bitter words like arrows, who whet their tongues like swords, who aim bitter words like arrows, Who whet their tongue like a sword, <i>and</i> bend <i>their bows to shoot</i> their arrows, <i>even</i> bitter words: Who have sharpened their tongues like a sword. They aimed bitter speech <i>as</i> their arrows, They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim cruel words like deadly arrows.
4 ambushing the innocent in seclusion, shooting suddenly, without fear. shooting from ambush at the blameless, shooting at him suddenly and without fear. That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not. To shoot from concealment at the innocent; Suddenly they shoot at him, and do not fear. 5 They hold fast to their evil purpose; they speak of hiding their snares. “Who will see them?” they say. They hold fast to their evil purpose; they talk of laying snares secretly, thinking, “Who can see them?” They encourage themselves <i>in</i> an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them? They make firm for themselves an evil purpose; They talk of setting snares secretly; They say, “Who can see them?” They encourage each other in evil plans, they talk about hiding their snares; they say, “Who will see it?”
6 They devise injustice and say, “We have perfected a secret plan.” For the inner man and the heart are mysterious. They search out injustice, saying, “We have accomplished a diligent search.” For the inward mind and heart of a man are deep. They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward <i>thought</i> of every one <i>of them</i>, and the heart, <i>is</i> deep. They devise injustices, <i>saying,</i> “We are ready <i>with</i> a well-conceived plot”; For the inward thought and the heart of a person are deep. They plot injustice and say, “We have devised a perfect plan!” Surely the human mind and heart are cunning.
7 But God will shoot them with arrows; suddenly they will be wounded. But God shoots his arrow at them; they are wounded suddenly. But God shall shoot at them <i>with</i> an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded. But God will shoot an arrow at them; Suddenly they will be wounded. But God will shoot them with his arrows; they will suddenly be struck down.
8 They will be made to stumble, their own tongues turned against them. All who see will shake their heads. They are brought to ruin, with their own tongues turned against them; all who see them will wag their heads. So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away. So they will make him stumble; Their own tongue is against them; All who see <i>them</i> will shake their heads. He will turn their own tongues against them and bring them to ruin; all who see them will shake their heads in scorn.
9 Then all mankind will fear and proclaim the work of God; so they will ponder what He has done. Then all mankind fears; they tell what God has brought about and ponder what he has done. And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing. Then all people will fear, And they will declare the work of God, And will consider what He has done. All people will fear; they will proclaim the works of God and ponder what he has done.
10 Let the righteous rejoice in the LORD and take refuge in Him; let all the upright in heart exult. Let the righteous one rejoice in the LORD and take refuge in him! Let all the upright in heart exult! The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory. The righteous person will be glad in the LORD and take refuge in Him; And all the upright in heart will boast. The righteous will rejoice in the LORD and take refuge in him; all the upright in heart will glory in him!
