19 Jesus said to them, Why, can the sons of the wedding feast fast as long as the bridegroom is with them? No! 20 But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, then in that day they will fast. 21 No man puts a new patch and sews it on a worn out garment, so that the new patch may not weaken the old, and the hole become larger. 22 And no man pours new wine into old wine-skins, so that the wine may not rend the skins and the skins be ruined, and the wine run out; but they pour new wine into new wine-skins. 23 And it happened that while Jesus was going through the wheat fields on the sabbath, his disciples walked and pulled up the ears of wheat. 24 And the Pharisees said to him, Look what they are doing on the sabbath! that which is unlawful. 25 Jesus said to them, Have you not read what David did, when he was in need and hungry, he and those who were with him? 26 How he entered into the house of God when Abiathar was the chief priest, and ate the bread which was on the table of the Lord, which was not lawful to be eaten except by the priests, and he gave it also to those who were with him? 27 And he said to them, The sabbath was created for the sake of man, and not man for the sake of the sabbath. 28 The Son of man therefore is the Lord also of the sabbath.
