19 And Jesus said to them, "Can the sons of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast; 20 but there will come days when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast in that day. 21 No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; else the patch takes from it, the new from the old, and a worse rent is made. 22 And no one puts new wine into old wine-skins; else the wine will burst the skins, and the wine perishes, and the skins; but they put new wine into fresh wine-skins." 23 And it came to pass that He was going on the sabbath through the grainfields; and His disciples began to make a way, plucking the heads of grain. 24 And the Pharisees said to them, "Behold, why are they doing on the sabbath that which is not lawful?" 25 And He said to them, "Did ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was hungry, he and those who were with him? 26 How he entered into the house of God during the high priesthood of Abiathar, and ate the show-bread, which it is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and gave also to those who were with him?" 27 And He said to them, "The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath; 28 so that the Son of Man is Lord even of the sabbath."
