You have heard, O LORD, the desire of the humble;

The humble come before God acknowledging their need, trusting His mercy rather than their own strength. David’s confidence rests in the Lord’s knowledge of afflicted hearts and in His covenant care for those oppressed by the wicked. God draws near to the contrite, as Isaiah 57:15 declares, and gives grace to the humble (James 4:6).
