In My Father’s House Are Many Rooms

1 Μὴ (Not) ταρασσέσθω (let be troubled) ὑμῶν (of you⁺) ἡ (the) καρδία (heart)· πιστεύετε (You⁺ believe) εἰς (in) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God), καὶ (also) εἰς (in) ἐμὲ (Me) πιστεύετε (believe). 2 ἐν (In) τῇ (the) οἰκίᾳ (house) τοῦ (of the) Πατρός (Father) μου (of Me) μοναὶ (dwelling places) πολλαί (many) εἰσιν (are)· εἰ (if) δὲ (now) μή (not), εἶπον (would I have told) ἂν (-) ὑμῖν (you⁺)· ὅτι (that) πορεύομαι (I am going) ἑτοιμάσαι (to prepare) τόπον (a place) ὑμῖν (for you⁺)· 3 καὶ (And) ἐὰν (if) πορευθῶ (I go) καὶ (and) ἑτοιμάσω (prepare) τόπον (a place) ὑμῖν (for you⁺), πάλιν (again) ἔρχομαι (I am coming) καὶ (and) παραλήμψομαι (I will receive) ὑμᾶς (you⁺) πρὸς (to) ἐμαυτόν (Myself), ἵνα (so that) ὅπου (where) εἰμὶ (am) ἐγὼ (I) καὶ (also) ὑμεῖς (you⁺) ἦτε (may be). 4 καὶ (And) ὅπου (to where) ἐγὼ (I) ὑπάγω (am going) οἴδατε (you⁺ know) τὴν (the) ὁδόν (way).

5 Λέγει (Says) αὐτῷ (to Him) Θωμᾶς (Thomas)· Κύριε (Lord), οὐκ (not) οἴδαμεν (we know) ποῦ (where) ὑπάγεις (You are going)· πῶς (how) δυνάμεθα (can we) τὴν (the) ὁδὸν (way) εἰδέναι (know)?

6 Λέγει (Says) αὐτῷ (to him) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus)· Ἐγώ (I) εἰμι (am) ἡ (the) ὁδὸς (way) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ἀλήθεια (truth) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ζωή (life)· οὐδεὶς (No one) ἔρχεται (comes) πρὸς (to) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father) εἰ (if) μὴ (not) δι’ (through) ἐμοῦ (Me). 7 εἰ (If) ἐγνώκειτέ (you⁺ had known) με (Me), καὶ (also) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father) μου (of Me) ἂν (-) ᾔδειτε (you⁺ would have known)· ἀπ’ (from) ἄρτι (now) γινώσκετε (you⁺ know) αὐτὸν (Him) καὶ (and) ἑωράκατε (have seen) αὐτόν (Him). heōrakate auton

8 Λέγει (Says) αὐτῷ (to Him) Φίλιππος (Philip)· Κύριε (Lord), δεῖξον (show) ἡμῖν (us) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father), καὶ (and) ἀρκεῖ (it is enough) ἡμῖν (for us).

9 Λέγει (Says) αὐτῷ (to him) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus)· Τοσούτῳ (So long) χρόνῳ (a time) μεθ’ (with) ὑμῶν (you⁺) εἰμι (am I) καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἔγνωκάς (you have known) με (Me), Φίλιππε (Philip)? ὁ (The one) ἑωρακὼς (having seen) ἐμὲ (Me) ἑώρακεν (has seen) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father)· πῶς (how) σὺ (you) λέγεις (say)· Δεῖξον (Show) ἡμῖν (us) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father)? 10 οὐ (Not) πιστεύεις (do you believe) ὅτι (that) ἐγὼ (I am) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) Πατρὶ (Father) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) ἐν (in) ἐμοί (Me) ἐστιν (is)? τὰ (The) ῥήματα (words) ἃ (that) ἐγὼ (I) λέγω (speak) ὑμῖν (to you⁺) ἀπ’ (from) ἐμαυτοῦ (Myself) οὐ (not) λαλῶ (I speak)· ὁ (-) δὲ (but) Πατὴρ (the Father) ἐν (in) ἐμοὶ (Me) μένων (dwelling) ποιεῖ (does) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) αὐτοῦ (of Him). 11 πιστεύετέ (Believe) μοι (Me) ὅτι (that) ἐγὼ (I am) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) Πατρὶ (Father) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) ἐν (is in) ἐμοί (Me)· εἰ (if) δὲ (but) μή (not), διὰ (because of) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) αὐτὰ (themselves) πιστεύετε (believe).

12 Ἀμὴν (Truly) ἀμὴν (truly) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you⁺), ὁ (the one) πιστεύων (believing) εἰς (in) ἐμὲ (Me) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) ἃ (that) ἐγὼ (I) ποιῶ (do) κἀκεῖνος (also he) ποιήσει (will do), καὶ (and) μείζονα (greater) τούτων (than these) ποιήσει (he will do), ὅτι (because) ἐγὼ (I) πρὸς (to) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father) πορεύομαι (am going)· 13 καὶ (And) ὅτι (whatever) ἂν (-) αἰτήσητε (you⁺ might ask) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ὀνόματί (name) μου (of Me), τοῦτο (this) ποιήσω (I will do), ἵνα (so that) δοξασθῇ (may be glorified) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) Υἱῷ (Son). 18 Οὐκ (Not) ἀφήσω (I will leave) ὑμᾶς (you⁺) ὀρφανούς (as orphans), ἔρχομαι (I am coming) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you⁺). 19 ἔτι (Yet) μικρὸν (a little while) καὶ (and) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) με (Me) οὐκέτι (no more) θεωρεῖ (sees), ὑμεῖς (you⁺) δὲ (however) θεωρεῖτέ (see) με (Me), ὅτι (because) ἐγὼ (I) ζῶ (live) καὶ (also) ὑμεῖς (you⁺) ζήσετε (will live). 20 ἐν (In) ἐκείνῃ (that) τῇ (-) ἡμέρᾳ (day) γνώσεσθε (will know) ὑμεῖς (you⁺) ὅτι (that) ἐγὼ (I am) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) Πατρί (Father) μου (of Me) καὶ (and) ὑμεῖς (you⁺) ἐν (in) ἐμοὶ (Me) κἀγὼ (and I) ἐν (in) ὑμῖν (you⁺). 21 ὁ (The one) ἔχων (having) τὰς (the) ἐντολάς (commandments) μου (of Me) καὶ (and) τηρῶν (keeping) αὐτὰς (them), ἐκεῖνός (he) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the one) ἀγαπῶν (loving) με (Me)· ὁ (the one) δὲ (now) ἀγαπῶν (loving) με (Me) ἀγαπηθήσεται (will be loved) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father) μου (of Me), κἀγὼ (and I) ἀγαπήσω (will love) αὐτὸν (him) καὶ (and) ἐμφανίσω (I will show) αὐτῷ (to him) ἐμαυτόν (Myself).

22 Λέγει (Says) αὐτῷ (to Him) Ἰούδας (Judas), οὐχ (not) ὁ (-) Ἰσκαριώτης (Iscariot)· Κύριε (Lord), καὶ (then) τί (what) γέγονεν (has occurred) ὅτι (that) ἡμῖν (to us) μέλλεις (You are about) ἐμφανίζειν (to manifest) σεαυτὸν (Yourself) καὶ (and) οὐχὶ (not) τῷ (to the) κόσμῳ (world)?

23 Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said) αὐτῷ (to him)· Ἐάν (If) τις (anyone) ἀγαπᾷ (loves), με (Me) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) μου (of Me) τηρήσει (he will keep), καὶ (and) ὁ (the) Πατήρ (Father) μου (of Me) ἀγαπήσει (will love) αὐτόν (him), καὶ (and) πρὸς (to) αὐτὸν (him) ἐλευσόμεθα (we will come) καὶ (and) μονὴν (a home) παρ’ (with) αὐτῷ (him) ποιησόμεθα (will make). 24 ὁ (The one) μὴ (not) ἀγαπῶν (loving) με (Me) τοὺς (the) λόγους (words) μου (of Me) οὐ (not) τηρεῖ (keeps)· καὶ (and) ὁ (the) λόγος (word) ὃν (that) ἀκούετε (you⁺ hear) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is) ἐμὸς (Mine) ἀλλὰ (but) τοῦ (of the) πέμψαντός (having sent) με (Me) Πατρός (Father).

25 Ταῦτα (These things) λελάληκα (I have said) ὑμῖν (to you⁺) παρ’ (with) ὑμῖν (you⁺) μένων (remaining)· 26 ὁ (The) δὲ (however) Παράκλητος (Advocate), τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) τὸ (-) Ἅγιον (Holy) ὃ (whom) πέμψει (will send) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ὀνόματί (name) μου (of Me), ἐκεῖνος (He) ὑμᾶς (you⁺) διδάξει (will teach) πάντα (all things) καὶ (and) ὑπομνήσει (will bring to the remembrance) ὑμᾶς (of you⁺) πάντα (all things) ἃ (that) εἶπον (said) ὑμῖν (to you⁺) ἐγώ (I).

27 Εἰρήνην (Peace) ἀφίημι (I leave) ὑμῖν (with you⁺), εἰρήνην (peace) τὴν (-) ἐμὴν (My) δίδωμι (I give) ὑμῖν (to you⁺)· οὐ (not) καθὼς (as) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) δίδωσιν (gives) ἐγὼ (I) δίδωμι (give) ὑμῖν (to you⁺). μὴ (Not) ταρασσέσθω (let be troubled) ὑμῶν (of you⁺) ἡ (the) καρδία (heart) μηδὲ (nor) δειλιάτω (let it be afraid). 28 ἠκούσατε (You⁺ heard) ὅτι (that) ἐγὼ (I) εἶπον (said) ὑμῖν (to you⁺)· Ὑπάγω (I am going away) καὶ (and) ἔρχομαι (I am coming) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you⁺). εἰ (If) ἠγαπᾶτέ (you⁺ loved) με (Me), ἐχάρητε (you⁺ would have rejoiced) ἄν (-) ὅτι (that) πορεύομαι (I am going) πρὸς (to) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father), ὅτι (because) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) μείζων (greater than) μού (I) ἐστιν (is). 29 καὶ (And) νῦν (now) εἴρηκα (I have told) ὑμῖν (you⁺) πρὶν (before) γενέσθαι (it comes to pass), ἵνα (so that) ὅταν (when) γένηται (it shall have come to pass) πιστεύσητε (you⁺ may believe).

30 Οὐκέτι (No longer) πολλὰ (much) λαλήσω (will I speak) μεθ’ (with) ὑμῶν (you⁺), ἔρχεται (comes) γὰρ (for) ὁ (the) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world) ἄρχων (ruler)· καὶ (and) ἐν (in) ἐμοὶ (Me) οὐκ (not) ἔχει (he has) οὐδέν (nothing), 31 ἀλλ’ (but) ἵνα (that) γνῷ (may know) ὁ (the) κόσμος (world) ὅτι (that) ἀγαπῶ (I love) τὸν (the) Πατέρα (Father), καὶ (and) καθὼς (as) ἐνετείλατο (commanded) μοι (Me) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father), οὕτως (thus) ποιῶ (I do).
