Remember Yahweh Your God

Every commandment that I command you today, you⁺ must be careful to do, so that you⁺ may live and multiply and go in and possess the land that YHWH has sworn to your⁺ fathers. 2And you shall remember the whole way that YHWH your God led you this forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.

And He humbled you and allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, so that He might make you know that the man shall not live by bread alone; but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of YHWH the man shall live. 4Your garments did not wear out from you, and your foot did not swell this forty years.

And you shall know in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, YHWH your God disciplines you. 6And you shall keep the commandments of YHWH your God, to walk in His ways and to fear Him.

For YHWH your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs flowing out of valleys and hills; 8a land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of olive oil and honey; 9a land in which without scarcity you will eat bread; you will not lack any in it; a land whose stones are iron, and from the hills you can dig copper. 10And you will eat and be satisfied; and you will bless YHWH your God for the good land that He has given you.

Take heed to it that you do not forget YHWH your God, by not keeping His commandments and His ordinances and His statutes, which I command you today— 12lest you eat and be satisfied and build and inhabit beautiful houses; 13and your herd and your flock multiply, and your silver and your gold multiply to you, and all that is to you is multiplied; 14and your heart is lifted up, and you forget YHWH your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery;

who led you in the great and the terrible wilderness, with fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water; who brought water for you out of the rock of flint; 16who fed you in the wilderness with manna that your fathers did not know, so that He might humble you, that He might test you, to do you good in the end;

and you say in your heart, “My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.” 18And you shall remember YHWH your God, for He gives you power to gain wealth, that He may establish His covenant that He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

And it shall come to pass, if you ever forget YHWH your God and follow after other gods, and serve them and worship them, I testify against you⁺ this day that you⁺ will surely perish. 20As the nations that YHWH destroys before you⁺, so you⁺ shall perish, because you⁺ would not listen to the voice of YHWH your⁺ God.
