Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem

1A Song of the Ascents. Of David.

1 I was glad at the saying to me,

“Let us go to the house of YHWH.”

2Our feet have been standing within your gates,

O Jerusalem!

3Jerusalem is built up

as a city joined to itself together;

4there the tribes go up,

the tribes of YAH,

as a testimony for Israel,

to give thanks to the name of YHWH.

5For there sit the thrones of judgment,

the thrones of the house of David.

6Ask for the peace of Jerusalem:

“May they prosper,† those loving you!

7May there be peace within your wall,

prosperity† within your citadels!”

8For the sake of my brothers and my companions

let me now say: “Peace be within you!”

9For the sake of the house of YHWH our God

I will seek good for you.
