I lift Up My Eyes to You

1A Song of the Ascents.

1 Unto You I lift up my eyes,

to the One sitting in the heavens.

2Behold, as the eyes of servants

are to the hand of their masters,

as the eyes of a maidservant

are to the hand of her mistress,

so are our eyes to YHWH our God,

until He shows us mercy.

3Have mercy on us, O YHWH, Have mercy on us!

For we are filled exceedingly with contempt.

4Exceedingly our soul has been filled with the scorn of those at ease,

with the contempt of the prideful ones.
