Come Quickly to Me
(Psalm 70:1–5)

1A Psalm of David.

1 O YHWH, I call to You—hurry to me;

give ear to my voice in my calling out to You!

2Let my prayer be established like incense before Your face,

and the lifting of my hands like the offering of the evening.

3Set, O YHWH, a guard for my mouth;

keep watch over the door of my lips.

4Do not make my heart bend to an evil thing,

to do works in wickedness,

with men working iniquity;

never shall I eat of their delicacies!

5Let a righteous one strike me,

and let him rebuke me in loving devotion;

it is oil for my head—let not my head refuse it!

For still my prayer is against their evil deeds.

6Let their judges be released into the hands of the rock,

and let them hear my words,

for they are pleasant!

7Like the tilling and ripping up of the land,

our bones are scattered at the mouth of Sheol.

8Yet unto You, O YHWH,

O Lord, are my eyes;

in You I seek refuge—

do not lay bare my soul!

9Keep me from the snares they have laid for me,

and from the lures of the workers of iniquity!

10Let the wicked fall into their nets together,

until I pass over.

Footnotes:

8 Or do not pour out my life or do not give me over to death
