Psalm 142
Berean Literal Bible Par ▾

I lift My Voice to Yahweh
(1 Samuel 22:1–5; Psalm 57:1–11)

1A Maskil of David, in his being in the cave. A prayer.

1 With my voice to YHWH I cry out;

with my voice to YHWH I plead for grace.

2I pour out before Him my complaint;

I declare my distress before Him.

3With the weakening of my spirit within me,

You indeed know my path;

on the road that I walk,

they have hidden a snare for me.

4Look to the right and see,

and no one attends to me;

the place of refuge has perished for me;

no one is inquiring for my soul.

5I cried out to You, O YHWH;

I said, “You are my refuge,

my portion in the land of the living!”

6Attend to my cry,

for exceedingly I am brought low!

Deliver me from my pursuers,

for they are stronger than I.

7Bring forth my soul from prison,

for giving praise by me to Your name!

Let the righteous ones surround me,

for You deal bountifully with me.

Footnotes:

1 Maskil is probably a musical or liturgical term; used for Psalms 32, 42, 44–45, 52–55, 74, 78, 88–89, and 142.
