After the Battle
(Proverbs 21:1–31)

1For the one directing. A Psalm of David.

1 O YHWH, in Your strength the king rejoices!

And in Your salvation, how greatly he exults!

2The desire of his heart You have given to him,

and the request of his lips you have not withheld.

Selah

3for You put before him the blessings of goodness;

You set upon his head a crown of pure gold.

4Life he has asked from You, and You gave it to him—

length of days, forever and ever.

5Great is his glory in Your salvation;

splendor and majesty You have placed upon him.

6For You set for him blessings forever;

You make him rejoice with gladness before Your face.

7For the king trusts in YHWH,

and in the loving devotion of the Most High

he shall not be shaken.

8Your hand will find all Your enemies;

Your right hand will find those hating You.

9You will place them as in a furnace of fire

at the time of Your presence;

YHWH in His anger will swallow them up,

and the fire will devour them.

10Their fruit You will destroy from the earth,

and their seed from among the sons of men.

11For they stretched out against you for evil.

They devised a plot; they will not prevail.

12For You set them to the shoulder;

You prepare Your bowstrings against their faces.

13Be exalted, O YHWH, in Your strength;

we will sing and praise Your might.
