For whom the Lord loveth he chastiseth: and he scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
And they indeed for a few days, according to their own pleasure, instructed us: but he, for our profit, that we might receive his sanctification.
Before I was humbled I offended; therefore have I kept thy word.
It is good for me that thou hast humbled me, that I may learn thy justifications.
O! let thy mercy be for my comfort, according to thy word unto thy servant.
Thou hast commanded justice thy testimonies: and thy truth exceedingly.
O Lord, if man's life be such, and the life of my spirit be in such things as these, thou shalt correct me, and make me to live.
Sade. The Lord is just, for I have provoked his mouth to wrath: hear, I pray you, all ye people, and see my sorrow: my virgins, and my young men are gone into captivity.
