Have mercy on me, O God, for man hath trodden me under foot; all the day long he hath afflicted me fighting against me. 2My enemies have trodden on me all the day long; for they are many that make war against me.3From the height of the day I shall fear: but I will trust in thee.…
For David himself. Judge thou, O Lord, them that wrong me: overthrow them that fight against me.
Let them not say in their hearts: It is well, it is well, to our mind: neither let them say: We have swallowed him up.
He shall redeem my soul in peace from them that draw near to me: for among many they were with me.
He hath sent from heaven and delivered me: he hath made them a reproach that trod upon me. God hath sent his mercy and his truth,
Perhaps they had swallowed us up alive. When their fury was enkindled against us,
For thy deserts, and thy desolate places, and the land of thy destruction shall now be too narrow by reason of the inhabitants, and they that swallowed thee up shall be chased far away.
Phe. All thy enemies have opened their mouth against thee: they have hissed, and gnashed with the teeth, and have said: We will swallow her up: lo, this is the day which we looked for: we have found it, we have seen it.
