Matthew 8
Literal Emphasis Translation Par ▾
1And having come down from the mountain, the great crowds followed Him. 2And behold, a leper having come, worshiped Him, saying, Lord, If you are willing, You are able to cleanse me. 3And having stretched out His hand, He touched him saying, I am willing; be you cleansed. And directly his leprosy was cleansed. 4And Jesus says to him, See that you tell no one; but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded unto a testimony to them.

5And He having entered into Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, entreating him, 6And saying, Lord, my servant (pais- child, boy, latin-puer-boy) is lying in the house, paralyzed, terribly tormented. 7And He says to him, I having come will heal (therapeuso) him. 8And the centurion answering said, Lord, I am not worthy (fit, sufficient, adequate) that you should come under my roof; but only speak the word, And my servant will be healed (iathesetai). 9For I am also a man under authority; having under me soldiers that I appoint; and I say to this one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my bond-servant (doulo), Do this, and he does it. 10And having heard, Jesus marveled, and said to those following, Truly I say to you, I have found no one in Israel with such great faith. 11And I say to you , That many from east and west will come, and will recline with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of the heavens; 12However the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into the outer (outmost, external, exterior) darkness, there will be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth. 13And Jesus said to the centurion, Go, like as you have believed, be it to you. And his servant (child) was healed (iathe) in that there hour.

14And Jesus having come into the house of Peter, He saw his mother-in-law lying sick (as cast down in sickness) and fevering; 15And He touched her hand and the fever left (released from) her; and she arose and ministered (diekonei- served) to them. 16And evening having come, they brought many demonized to Him and He cast out the spirits by a word, and all those being badly (sick), He healed, 17So that that having been spoken by Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, He Himself took our infirmities and bore (carried away) our diseases.

18And Jesus having seen a great crowd around Him, He commanded to depart unto the other side. 19And one scribe having come to Him, said to Him, Teacher, I will follow you wherever you might go. 20And Jesus says to him, Foxes have holes and the birds of the heaven nests; however the Son of Man has no [place] where He might recline His head. 21And another of His disciples said to Him, Lord, permit me to first go and bury my father. 22However Jesus said to him, Follow Me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.

23And He having entered into the boat, His disciples followed Him. 24And Behold, a great storm arose in the sea, so that the boat was being enveloped by the waves; however He was sleeping. 25And having come to Him, they awoke Him, saying, Lord, save us, we are perishing! 26And He says to them, Why are you cowardly (timid, dreadful), O you of little faith? Then, having arisen, He censured the winds and the sea and there was a great calm. 27And the men marveled, saying, What kind of Man is this that even the winds and the sea comply under Him?

28And He having come unto the other side unto the region of the Gadarenes, two demonized men met Him, coming from out of the tombs, extremely fierce (harsh, dangerous, hard to bear, violent) so that no one was able to pass through that there way. 29And behold, they cried out, saying, What to us and to you, Son of God? Are you come here before the fitting time to torment us? 30And there was far off away from them a heard of many pigs feeding; 31And the demons entreated Him, saying, If You cast us out, send us away into the herd of pigs. 32And He said to them, Go. And having gone out they went away into the pigs: and behold, all the herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and perished in the waters. 33And those feeding them fled, and having gone away into the city, reported everything and that of those being demonized. 34And behold all the city went out to meet Jesus; and having seen Him, they entreated that He would depart away from their region.
