I went to Jerusalem and the other towns of Judah, and their kings and officials drank from the cup. From that day until this, they have been a desolate ruin, an object of horror, contempt, and cursing.

"That is why the LORD's anger has fallen upon Judah and Jerusalem. He has made them an object of dread, horror, and ridicule, as you can see with your own eyes.
You have been very hard on us, making us drink wine that sent us reeling.
He judges the great people of the world and brings them all to nothing.
Wake up, wake up, O Jerusalem! You have drunk the cup of the LORD's fury. You have drunk the cup of terror, tipping out its last drops.
Your name will be a curse word among my people, for the Sovereign LORD will destroy you and will call his true servants by another name.
