Hosea 5
BSB Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Berean Study BibleEnglish Standard Version
“Hear this, O priests! Take heed, O house of Israel! Give ear, O royal house! For this judgment is against you because you have been a snare at Mizpah, a net spread out on Tabor.1Hear this, O priests! Pay attention, O house of Israel! Give ear, O house of the king! For the judgment is for you; for you have been a snare at Mizpah and a net spread upon Tabor.
The rebels are deep in slaughter; but I will chastise them all.2And the revolters have gone deep into slaughter, but I will discipline all of them.
I know all about Ephraim, and Israel is not hidden from Me. For now, O Ephraim, you have turned to prostitution; Israel is defiled.3I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hidden from me; for now, O Ephraim, you have played the whore; Israel is defiled.
Their deeds do not permit them to return to their God, for a spirit of prostitution is within them, and they do not know the LORD.4Their deeds do not permit them to return to their God. For the spirit of whoredom is within them, and they know not the LORD.
Israel’s arrogance testifies against them; Israel and Ephraim stumble in their iniquity; even Judah stumbles with them.5The pride of Israel testifies to his face; Israel and Ephraim shall stumble in his guilt; Judah also shall stumble with them.
They go with their flocks and herds to seek the LORD, but they do not find Him; He has withdrawn Himself from them.6With their flocks and herds they shall go to seek the LORD, but they will not find him; he has withdrawn from them.
They have been unfaithful to the LORD; for they have borne illegitimate children. Now the New Moon will devour them along with their land.7They have dealt faithlessly with the LORD; for they have borne alien children. Now the new moon shall devour them with their fields.
Blow the ram’s horn in Gibeah, the trumpet in Ramah; raise the battle cry in Beth-aven: Lead on, O Benjamin!8Blow the horn in Gibeah, the trumpet in Ramah. Sound the alarm at Beth-aven; we follow you, O Benjamin!
Ephraim will be laid waste on the day of rebuke. Among the tribes of Israel I proclaim what is certain.9Ephraim shall become a desolation in the day of punishment; among the tribes of Israel I make known what is sure.
The princes of Judah are like those who move boundary stones; I will pour out My fury upon them like water.10The princes of Judah have become like those who move the landmark; upon them I will pour out my wrath like water.
Ephraim is oppressed, crushed in judgment, for he is determined to follow worthless idols.11Ephraim is oppressed, crushed in judgment, because he was determined to go after filth.
So I am like a moth to Ephraim, and like decay to the house of Judah.12But I am like a moth to Ephraim, and like dry rot to the house of Judah.
When Ephraim saw his sickness and Judah his wound, then Ephraim turned to Assyria and sent to the great king. But he cannot cure you or heal your wound.13When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his wound, then Ephraim went to Assyria, and sent to the great king. But he is not able to cure you or heal your wound.
For I am like a lion to Ephraim and like a young lion to the house of Judah. I, even I, will tear them to pieces and then go away. I will carry them off where no one can rescue them.14For I will be like a lion to Ephraim, and like a young lion to the house of Judah. I, even I, will tear and go away; I will carry off, and no one shall rescue.
Then I will return to My place until they admit their guilt and seek My face; in their affliction they will earnestly seek Me.”15I will return again to my place, until they acknowledge their guilt and seek my face, and in their distress earnestly seek me.
