After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb.1Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the grave.
Suddenly there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, rolled away the stone, and sat on it.2And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it.
His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.3And his appearance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow.
The guards trembled in fear of him and became like dead men.4The guards shook for fear of him and became like dead men.
But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.5The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified.
He is not here; He has risen, just as He said! Come, see the place where He lay.6"He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.
Then go quickly and tell His disciples, ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see Him.’ See, I have told you.”7"Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you."
So they hurried away from the tomb in fear and great joy, and ran to tell His disciples.8And they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy and ran to report it to His disciples.
Suddenly Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” They came to Him, grasped His feet, and worshiped Him.9And behold, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they came up and took hold of His feet and worshiped Him.
“Do not be afraid,” said Jesus. “Go and tell My brothers to go to Galilee. There they will see Me.”10Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid; go and take word to My brethren to leave for Galilee, and there they will see Me."
While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests all that had happened.11Now while they were on their way, some of the guard came into the city and reported to the chief priests all that had happened.
And after the chief priests had met with the elders and formed a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money12And when they had assembled with the elders and consulted together, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers,
and instructed them: “You are to say, ‘His disciples came by night and stole Him away while we were asleep.’13and said, "You are to say, 'His disciples came by night and stole Him away while we were asleep.'
If this report reaches the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.”14"And if this should come to the governor's ears, we will win him over and keep you out of trouble."
So the guards took the money and did as they were instructed. And this account has been circulated among the Jews to this very day.15And they took the money and did as they had been instructed; and this story was widely spread among the Jews, and is to this day.
Meanwhile, the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain Jesus had designated.16But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated.
When they saw Him, they worshiped Him, but some doubted.17When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful.
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.18And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,19"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”20teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
