A Psalm of David, when he fled from his son Absalom. O LORD, how my foes have increased! How many rise up against me!1A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. O LORD, how my adversaries have increased! Many are rising up against me.
Many say of me, “God will not deliver him.” Selah2Many are saying of my soul, "There is no deliverance for him in God." Selah.
But You, O LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, and the One who lifts my head.3But You, O LORD, are a shield about me, My glory, and the One who lifts my head.
To the LORD I cry aloud, and He answers me from His holy mountain. Selah4I was crying to the LORD with my voice, And He answered me from His holy mountain. Selah.
I lie down and sleep; I wake again, for the LORD sustains me.5I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the LORD sustains me.
I will not fear the myriads set against me on every side.6I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people Who have set themselves against me round about.
Arise, O LORD! Save me, O my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked.7Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God! For You have smitten all my enemies on the cheek; You have shattered the teeth of the wicked.
Salvation belongs to the LORD; may Your blessing be on Your people. Selah8Salvation belongs to the LORD; Your blessing be upon Your people! Selah.
