Psalm 27
BSB Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Berean Study BibleNew Living Translation
Of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—whom shall I dread?1The LORD is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid? The LORD is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?
When the wicked came upon me to devour my flesh, my enemies and foes stumbled and fell.2When evil people come to devour me, when my enemies and foes attack me, they will stumble and fall.
Though an army encamps around me, my heart will not fear; though a war breaks out against me, I will keep my trust.3Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident.
One thing I have asked of the LORD; this is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and seek Him in His temple.4The one thing I ask of the LORD— the thing I seek most— is to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, delighting in the LORD’s perfections and meditating in his Temple.
For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; He will conceal me under the cover of His tent; He will set me high upon a rock.5For he will conceal me there when troubles come; he will hide me in his sanctuary. He will place me out of reach on a high rock.
Then my head will be held high above my enemies around me. At His tabernacle I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD.6Then I will hold my head high above my enemies who surround me. At his sanctuary I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy, singing and praising the LORD with music.
Hear, O LORD, my voice when I call; be merciful and answer me.7Hear me as I pray, O LORD. Be merciful and answer me!
My heart said, “Seek His face.” Your face, O LORD, I will seek.8My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “LORD, I am coming.”
Hide not Your face from me, nor turn away Your servant in anger. You have been my helper; do not leave me or forsake me, O God of my salvation.9Do not turn your back on me. Do not reject your servant in anger. You have always been my helper. Don’t leave me now; don’t abandon me, O God of my salvation!
Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me.10Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close.
Teach me Your way, O LORD, and lead me on a level path, because of my oppressors.11Teach me how to live, O LORD. Lead me along the right path, for my enemies are waiting for me.
Do not hand me over to the will of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing out violence.12Do not let me fall into their hands. For they accuse me of things I’ve never done; with every breath they threaten me with violence.
Still I am certain to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.13Yet I am confident I will see the LORD’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living.
Wait patiently for the LORD; be strong and courageous. Wait patiently for the LORD!14Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD.
