Psalm 59
CSB Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Christian Standard BibleNew Living Translation
Rescue me from my enemies, my God; protect me from those who rise up against me.1Rescue me from my enemies, O God. Protect me from those who have come to destroy me.
Rescue me from those who practice sin, and save me from men of bloodshed.2Rescue me from these criminals; save me from these murderers.
Because look, LORD, they set an ambush for me. Powerful men attack me, but not because of any sin or rebellion of mine.3They have set an ambush for me. Fierce enemies are out there waiting, LORD, though I have not sinned or offended them.
For no fault of mine, they run and take up a position. Awake to help me, and take notice.4I have done nothing wrong, yet they prepare to attack me. Wake up! See what is happening and help me!
LORD God of Armies, you are the God of Israel. Rise up to punish all the nations; do not show favor to any wicked traitors. Selah5O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, wake up and punish those hostile nations. Show no mercy to wicked traitors. Interlude
They return at evening, snarling like dogs and prowling around the city.6They come out at night, snarling like vicious dogs as they prowl the streets.
Look, they spew from their mouths--sharp words from their lips. "For who," they say, "will hear?"7Listen to the filth that comes from their mouths; their words cut like swords. “After all, who can hear us?” they sneer.
But you laugh at them, LORD; you ridicule all the nations.8But LORD, you laugh at them. You scoff at all the hostile nations.
I will keep watch for you, my strength, because God is my stronghold.9You are my strength; I wait for you to rescue me, for you, O God, are my fortress.
My faithful God will come to meet me; God will let me look down on my adversaries.10In his unfailing love, my God will stand with me. He will let me look down in triumph on all my enemies.
Do not kill them; otherwise, my people will forget. By your power, make them homeless wanderers and bring them down, Lord, our shield.11Don’t kill them, for my people soon forget such lessons; stagger them with your power, and bring them to their knees, O Lord our shield.
For the sin of their mouths and the words of their lips, let them be caught in their pride. They utter curses and lies.12Because of the sinful things they say, because of the evil that is on their lips, let them be captured by their pride, their curses, and their lies.
Consume them in rage; consume them until they are gone. Then people will know throughout the earth that God rules over Jacob. Selah13Destroy them in your anger! Wipe them out completely! Then the whole world will know that God reigns in Israel. Interlude
And they return at evening, snarling like dogs and prowling around the city.14My enemies come out at night, snarling like vicious dogs as they prowl the streets.
They scavenge for food; they growl if they are not satisfied.15They scavenge for food but go to sleep unsatisfied.
But I will sing of your strength and will joyfully proclaim your faithful love in the morning. For you have been a stronghold for me, a refuge in my day of trouble.16But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress.
To you, my strength, I sing praises, because God is my stronghold--my faithful God.17O my Strength, to you I sing praises, for you, O God, are my refuge, the God who shows me unfailing love.
