ESV Parallel BSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
English Standard VersionBerean Study Bible
Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn her seven pillars.1Wisdom has built her house; she has carved out her seven pillars.
She has slaughtered her beasts; she has mixed her wine; she has also set her table.2She has prepared her meat and mixed her wine; she has also set her table.
She has sent out her young women to call from the highest places in the town,3She has sent out her maidservants; she calls out from the heights of the city.
“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” To him who lacks sense she says,4“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” she says to him who lacks judgment.
“Come, eat of my bread and drink of the wine I have mixed.5“Come, eat my bread and drink the wine I have mixed.
Leave your simple ways, and live, and walk in the way of insight.”6Leave your folly behind, and you will live; walk in the way of understanding.”
Whoever corrects a scoffer gets himself abuse, and he who reproves a wicked man incurs injury.7He who corrects a mocker brings shame on himself; he who rebukes a wicked man taints himself.
Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you.8Do not rebuke a mocker, or he will hate you; rebuke a wise man, and he will love you.
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.9Instruct a wise man, and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man, and he will increase his learning.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.10The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
For by me your days will be multiplied, and years will be added to your life.11For through wisdom your days will be multiplied, and years will be added to your life.
If you are wise, you are wise for yourself; if you scoff, you alone will bear it.12If you are wise, you are wise to your own advantage; but if you scoff, you alone will bear the consequences.
The woman Folly is loud; she is seductive and knows nothing.13The woman named Folly is loud; she is naive and knows nothing.
She sits at the door of her house; she takes a seat on the highest places of the town,14She sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the heights of the city,
calling to those who pass by, who are going straight on their way,15calling out to those who pass by, who make their paths straight.
“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” And to him who lacks sense she says,16“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” she says to him who lacks judgment.
“Stolen water is sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.”17“Stolen water is sweet, and bread eaten in secret is tasty!”
But he does not know that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.18But they do not know that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.
