English Standard VersionBerean Study Bible
O God, save me by your name, and vindicate me by your might.1For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments. A Maskil of David. When the Ziphites went to Saul and said, “Is David not hiding among us?” Save me, O God, by Your name, and vindicate me by Your might!
O God, hear my prayer; give ear to the words of my mouth.2Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth.
For strangers have risen against me; ruthless men seek my life; they do not set God before themselves. Selah3For strangers rise up against me, and ruthless men seek my life—men with no regard for God. Selah
Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life.4Surely God is my helper; the Lord is the sustainer of my soul.
He will return the evil to my enemies; in your faithfulness put an end to them.5He will reward my enemies with evil. In Your faithfulness, destroy them.
With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to you; I will give thanks to your name, O LORD, for it is good.6Freely I will sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, O LORD, for it is good.
For he has delivered me from every trouble, and my eye has looked in triumph on my enemies.7For He has delivered me from every trouble, and my eyes have stared down my foes.
