ESV Parallel CSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
English Standard VersionChristian Standard Bible
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,1First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone,
for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.2for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.
This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,3This is good, and it pleases God our Savior,
who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.4who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,5For there is one God and one mediator between God and humanity, the man Christ Jesus,
who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.6who gave himself as a ransom for all, a testimony at the proper time.
For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.7For this I was appointed a herald, an apostle (I am telling the truth; I am not lying), and a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling;8Therefore, I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or argument.
likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire,9Also, the women are to dress themselves in modest clothing, with decency and good sense, not with elaborate hairstyles, gold, pearls, or expensive apparel,
but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.10but with good works, as is proper for women who profess to worship God.
Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness.11A woman is to learn quietly with full submission.
I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.12I do not allow a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; instead, she is to remain quiet.
For Adam was formed first, then Eve;13For Adam was formed first, then Eve.
and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and transgressed.
Yet she will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control.15But she will be saved through childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with good sense.
