Psalm 64
ESV Parallel NET [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
English Standard VersionNET Bible
1Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint; preserve my life from dread of the enemy.1For the music director; a psalm of David. Listen to me, O God, as I offer my lament! Protect my life from the enemy's terrifying attacks.
2Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, from the throng of evildoers,2Hide me from the plots of evil men, from the crowd of evildoers.
3who whet their tongues like swords, who aim bitter words like arrows,3They sharpen their tongues like a sword; they aim their arrow, a slanderous charge,
4shooting from ambush at the blameless, shooting at him suddenly and without fear.4in order to shoot down the innocent in secluded places. They shoot at him suddenly and are unafraid of retaliation.
5They hold fast to their evil purpose; they talk of laying snares secretly, thinking, “Who can see them?”5They encourage one another to carry out their evil deed. They plan how to hide snares, and boast, "Who will see them?"
6They search out injustice, saying, “We have accomplished a diligent search.” For the inward mind and heart of a man are deep.6They devise unjust schemes; they disguise a well-conceived plot. Man's inner thoughts cannot be discovered.
7But God shoots his arrow at them; they are wounded suddenly.7But God will shoot at them; suddenly they will be wounded by an arrow.
8They are brought to ruin, with their own tongues turned against them; all who see them will wag their heads.8Their slander will bring about their demise. All who see them will shudder,
9Then all mankind fears; they tell what God has brought about and ponder what he has done.9and all people will fear. They will proclaim what God has done, and reflect on his deeds.
10Let the righteous one rejoice in the LORD and take refuge in him! Let all the upright in heart exult!10The godly will rejoice in the LORD and take shelter in him. All the morally upright will boast.
