Timothy 2
HCSB Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
Holman Christian Standard BibleEnglish Standard Version
First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, 1First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,
for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.2for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.
This is good, and it pleases God our Savior,3This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,
who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 4who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God and one mediator between God and humanity, Christ Jesus, Himself human, 5For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
who gave Himself--a ransom for all, a testimony at the proper time. 6who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.
For this I was appointed a herald, an apostle (I am telling the truth; I am not lying), and a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. 7For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
Therefore, I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or argument.8I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling;
Also, the women are to dress themselves in modest clothing, with decency and good sense, not with elaborate hairstyles, gold, pearls, or expensive apparel, 9likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire,
but with good works, as is proper for women who affirm that they worship God. 10but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.
A woman should learn in silence with full submission.11Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness.
I do not allow a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; instead, she is to be silent. 12I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.
For Adam was created first, then Eve.13For Adam was formed first, then Eve;
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and transgressed.14and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.
But she will be saved through childbearing, if she continues in faith, love, and holiness, with good judgment. 15Yet she will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control.
