First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, 1First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men,
for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.2for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.
This is good, and it pleases God our Savior,3This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 4who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God and one mediator between God and humanity, Christ Jesus, Himself human, 5For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
who gave Himself--a ransom for all, a testimony at the proper time. 6who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.
For this I was appointed a herald, an apostle (I am telling the truth; I am not lying), and a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. 7For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying) as a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
Therefore, I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or argument.8Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension.
Also, the women are to dress themselves in modest clothing, with decency and good sense, not with elaborate hairstyles, gold, pearls, or expensive apparel, 9Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments,
but with good works, as is proper for women who affirm that they worship God. 10but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness.
A woman should learn in silence with full submission.11A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness.
I do not allow a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; instead, she is to be silent. 12But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.
For Adam was created first, then Eve.13For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve.
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and transgressed.14And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.
But she will be saved through childbearing, if she continues in faith, love, and holiness, with good judgment. 15But women will be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint.
