Job 26
International Standard VersionBerean Study Bible
In reply, Job responded:1Then Job answered:
"What a help you are to the weak! How powerfully you deliver those without strength!2“How you have helped the powerless and saved the arm that is feeble!
What counsel you provide to the fool! What insight you provide so abundantly!3How you have counseled the unwise and provided fully sound insight!
Who helped you say all of this? Who inspired you?"4To whom have you uttered these words? And whose spirit spoke through you?
"The ghosts of the dead writhe under the waters along with those who live there with them.5The dead tremble—those beneath the waters and those who dwell in them.
Sheol is naked before God and Abaddon has no clothes.6Sheol is naked before God, and Abaddon has no covering.
He spreads out the north over empty space, suspending the earth over nothing.7He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth upon nothing.
"He restricts the waters within clouds and the clouds don't burst open under them.8He wraps up the waters in His clouds, yet the clouds do not burst under their own weight.
He has enclosed the face of the full moon and spread his clouds over it.9He covers the face of the full moon, spreading over it His cloud.
He has delimited a boundary over the surface of the oceans as a limit between light and darkness.10He has inscribed a horizon on the face of the waters at the boundary between light and darkness.
The pillars of the heavens tremble and are astounded at his rebuke.11The foundations of heaven quake, astounded at His rebuke.
By his power he disturbs the sea; and with his skill he shatters the sea monster. 12By His power He stirred the sea; by His understanding He shattered Rahab.
he clears the skies with his wind; his hands have pierced the fleeing serpent.13By His breath the skies were cleared; His hand pierced the fleeing serpent.
Indeed, these are the fringes of his ways, and how faint is the whisper we've heard of it! But who can comprehend the thunder of his might?"14Indeed, these are but the fringes of His ways; how faint is the whisper we hear of Him! Who then can understand the thunder of His power?”
