Psalm 53
ISV Parallel HCSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
International Standard VersionHolman Christian Standard Bible
1Fools say to themselves "There is no God." They are corrupt and commit iniquity; not one of them practices what is good.1For the choir director: on Mahalath. A Davidic Maskil. The fool says in his heart, "God does not exist." They are corrupt, and they do vile deeds. There is no one who does good.
2God looks down from the heavens upon humanity to see if anyone shows discernment as he searches for God.2God looks down from heaven on the human race to see if there is one who is wise, one who seeks God.
3All of them have fallen away; together they have become corrupt; no one does what is good, not even one.3All have turned away; all alike have become corrupt. There is no one who does good, not even one.
4Will those who do evil ever learn? They devour my people like they devour bread, and never call on God.4Will evildoers never understand? They consume My people as they consume bread; they do not call on God.
5There the Israelis were seized with terror, when there was nothing to fear. For God scattered the bones of those who laid siege against you — you put them to shame, for God rejected them.5Then they will be filled with terror-- terror like no other-- because God will scatter the bones of those who besiege you. You will put them to shame, for God has rejected them.
6Would that Israel's deliverance come out of Zion! When God restores the fortunes of his people, Jacob will rejoice and Israel will be glad. 6Oh, that Israel's deliverance would come from Zion! When God restores the fortunes of His people, Jacob will rejoice; Israel will be glad.
