If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.1Therefore, since you have been raised with Christ, strive for the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.2Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.3For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.4When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:5Put to death, therefore, the components of your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry.
For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:6Because of these, the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience.
In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.7When you lived among them, you also used to walk in these ways.
But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.8But now you must put aside all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;9Do not lie to one another, since you have taken off the old self with its practices,
And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:10and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.11Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, or free, but Christ is all and is in all.
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;12Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with hearts of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.13Bear with one another and forgive any complaint you may have against someone else. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.14And over all these virtues put on love, which is the bond of perfect unity.
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.15Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, for to this you were called as members of one body. And be thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.16Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.17And whatever you do, in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.18Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.19Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.20Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing to the Lord.
Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.21Fathers, do not provoke your children, so they will not become discouraged.
Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:22Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything, not only to please them while they are watching, but with sincerity of heart and fear of the Lord.
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;23Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, for the Lord and not for men,
Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.24because you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as your reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.25Whoever does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism.
