A Psalm of David. Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:1Of David. Blessed be the LORD, my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.
My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.2He is my steadfast love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer. He is my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.
LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!3O LORD, what is man, that You regard him, the son of man that You think of him?
Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away.4Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.
Bow thy heavens, O LORD, and come down: touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.5Part Your heavens, O LORD, and come down; touch the mountains, that they may smoke.
Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: shoot out thine arrows, and destroy them.6Flash forth Your lightning and scatter them; shoot Your arrows and rout them.
Send thine hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of strange children;7Reach down from on high; set me free and rescue me from the deep waters, from the grasp of foreigners,
Whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.8whose mouths speak falsehood, whose right hands are deceitful.
I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee.9I will sing to You a new song, O God; on a harp of ten strings I will make music to You—
It is he that giveth salvation unto kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword.10to Him who gives victory to kings, who frees His servant David from the deadly sword.
Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:11Set me free and rescue me from the grasp of foreigners, whose mouths speak falsehood, whose right hands are deceitful.
That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:12Then our sons will be like plants nurtured in their youth, our daughters like corner pillars carved to adorn a palace.
That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets:13Our storehouses will be full, supplying all manner of produce; our flocks will bring forth thousands, tens of thousands in our fields.
That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.14Our oxen will bear great loads. There will be no breach in the walls, no going into captivity, and no cry of lament in our streets.
Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.15Blessed are the people of whom this is so; blessed are the people whose God is the LORD.
