2 Timothy 3
KJV Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
King James BibleEnglish Standard Version
1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.1But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty.
2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,2For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,
3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,3heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good,
4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;4treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.5having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.
6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,6For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions,
7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.7always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth.
8Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.8Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith.
9But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.9But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, as was that of those two men.
10But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,10You, however, have followed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness,
11Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.11my persecutions and sufferings that happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra—which persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me.
12Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.12Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
13But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.13while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
14But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;14But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it
15And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.15and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:16All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
17That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.17that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
