King James BibleEnglish Standard Version
In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.1Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb.
And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.2And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it.
His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:3His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow.
And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.4And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men.
And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.5But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.
He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.6He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.
And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.7Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.”
And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.8So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.
And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.9And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him.
Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.10Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”
Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.11While they were going, behold, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had taken place.
And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,12And when they had assembled with the elders and taken counsel, they gave a sufficient sum of money to the soldiers
Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.13and said, “Tell people, ‘His disciples came by night and stole him away while we were asleep.’
And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.14And if this comes to the governor’s ears, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.”
So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.15So they took the money and did as they were directed. And this story has been spread among the Jews to this day.
Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.16Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them.
And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.17And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted.
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.18And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.20teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
