King James BibleHolman Christian Standard Bible
A Song of degrees. LORD, remember David, and all his afflictions:1A song of ascents. LORD, remember David and all the hardships he endured,
How he sware unto the LORD, and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob;2and how he swore an oath to the LORD, making a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:"
Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;3I will not enter my house or get into my bed,
I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids,4I will not allow my eyes to sleep or my eyelids to slumber
Until I find out a place for the LORD, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.5until I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob."
Lo, we heard of it at Ephratah: we found it in the fields of the wood.6We heard of the ark in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar.
We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool.7Let us go to His dwelling place; let us worship at His footstool.
Arise, O LORD, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.8Rise up, LORD, come to Your resting place, You and Your powerful ark.
Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.9May Your priests be clothed with righteousness, and may Your godly people shout for joy.
For thy servant David's sake turn not away the face of thine anointed.10Because of Your servant David, do not reject Your anointed one.
The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.11The LORD swore an oath to David, a promise He will not abandon:" I will set one of your descendants on your throne.
If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.12If your sons keep My covenant and My decrees that I will teach them, their sons will also sit on your throne forever."
For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.13For the LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His home:"
This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.14This is My resting place forever; I will make My home here because I have desired it.
I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.15I will abundantly bless its food; I will satisfy its needy with bread.
I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.16I will clothe its priests with salvation, and its godly people will shout for joy.
There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.17There I will make a horn grow for David; I have prepared a lamp for My anointed one.
His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.18I will clothe his enemies with shame, but the crown he wears will be glorious."
