Psalm 52
KJV Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleNew American Standard Bible 1995
1To the chief Musician, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech. Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually.1For the choir director. A Maskil of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul and said to him, "David has come to the house of Ahimelech." Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man? The lovingkindness of God endures all day long.
2Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp rasor, working deceitfully.2Your tongue devises destruction, Like a sharp razor, O worker of deceit.
3Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.3You love evil more than good, Falsehood more than speaking what is right. Selah.
4Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.4You love all words that devour, O deceitful tongue.
5God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.5But God will break you down forever; He will snatch you up and tear you away from your tent, And uproot you from the land of the living. Selah.
6The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:6The righteous will see and fear, And will laugh at him, saying,
7Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.7"Behold, the man who would not make God his refuge, But trusted in the abundance of his riches And was strong in his evil desire."
8But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.8But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the lovingkindness of God forever and ever.
9I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.9I will give You thanks forever, because You have done it, And I will wait on Your name, for it is good, in the presence of Your godly ones.
