Psalm 52
KJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleNew Living Translation
1To the chief Musician, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech. Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually.1Why do you boast about your crimes, great warrior? Don’t you realize God’s justice continues forever?
2Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp rasor, working deceitfully.2All day long you plot destruction. Your tongue cuts like a sharp razor; you’re an expert at telling lies.
3Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.3You love evil more than good and lies more than truth. Interlude
4Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.4You love to destroy others with your words, you liar!
5God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.5But God will strike you down once and for all. He will pull you from your home and uproot you from the land of the living. Interlude
6The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:6The righteous will see it and be amazed. They will laugh and say,
7Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.7“Look what happens to mighty warriors who do not trust in God. They trust their wealth instead and grow more and more bold in their wickedness.”
8But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.8But I am like an olive tree, thriving in the house of God. I will always trust in God’s unfailing love.
9I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.9I will praise you forever, O God, for what you have done. I will trust in your good name in the presence of your faithful people.
