KJV Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleNew American Standard Bible 1995
To the chief Musician, Altaschith, Michtam of David; when Saul sent, and they watched the house to kill him. Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.1For the choir director; set to Al-tashheth. A Mikhtam of David, when Saul sent men and they watched the house in order to kill him. Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; Set me securely on high away from those who rise up against me.
Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men.2Deliver me from those who do iniquity And save me from men of bloodshed.
For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD.3For behold, they have set an ambush for my life; Fierce men launch an attack against me, Not for my transgression nor for my sin, O LORD,
They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me, and behold.4For no guilt of mine, they run and set themselves against me. Arouse Yourself to help me, and see!
Thou therefore, O LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen: be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah.5You, O LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, Awake to punish all the nations; Do not be gracious to any who are treacherous in iniquity. Selah.
They return at evening: they make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.6They return at evening, they howl like a dog, And go around the city.
Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear?7Behold, they belch forth with their mouth; Swords are in their lips, For, they say, "Who hears?"
But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.8But You, O LORD, laugh at them; You scoff at all the nations.
Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence.9Because of his strength I will watch for You, For God is my stronghold.
The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.10My God in His lovingkindness will meet me; God will let me look triumphantly upon my foes.
Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield.11Do not slay them, or my people will forget; Scatter them by Your power, and bring them down, O Lord, our shield.
For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.12On account of the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips, Let them even be caught in their pride, And on account of curses and lies which they utter.
Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be: and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah.13Destroy them in wrath, destroy them that they may be no more; That men may know that God rules in Jacob To the ends of the earth. Selah.
And at evening let them return; and let them make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.14They return at evening, they howl like a dog, And go around the city.
Let them wander up and down for meat, and grudge if they be not satisfied.15They wander about for food And growl if they are not satisfied.
But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.16But as for me, I shall sing of Your strength; Yes, I shall joyfully sing of Your lovingkindness in the morning, For You have been my stronghold And a refuge in the day of my distress.
Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.17O my strength, I will sing praises to You; For God is my stronghold, the God who shows me lovingkindness.
