Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;1Paul, a bond-servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the faith of those chosen of God and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness,
In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;2in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago,
But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;3but at the proper time manifested, even His word, in the proclamation with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior,
To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.4To Titus, my true child in a common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.
For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:5For this reason I left you in Crete, that you would set in order what remains and appoint elders in every city as I directed you,
If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.6namely, if any man is above reproach, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, not accused of dissipation or rebellion.
For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;7For the overseer must be above reproach as God's steward, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not addicted to wine, not pugnacious, not fond of sordid gain,
But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;8but hospitable, loving what is good, sensible, just, devout, self-controlled,

Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.15To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.
They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.16They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.
